10. Nine Inch Nails
Year Zero makes American Idiot's story look like Candyland.

Fun fact: did you know Trent used to look like thisbefore NIN?

9. The Who
A classic rock staple for decades.

8. Third Eye Blind
Do yourself a favor and check out Ursa Major (if you've already listened the shit out of their debut album).

7. AC/DC
Guitar-driven rock at its purest.

6. Beastie Boys
Clearly have a strong monopoly on the Jewish music scene.

5. Oasis
The douchiest members of the top ten are also one of the most gifted musician pairs ever.

4. Led Zeppelin
The masters of plagiarized music

3. Our Lady Peace
Canada finally does something right.

2. Blink 182
"I'm not gay, but the man in my bed last night was."

1. U2
And it's not even close. Four decades of great music (excluding their last album)

Just missed the top ten:
-Smashing Pumpkins
-Creedence Clearwater Revival
-The Rolling Stones
-Red Hot Chili Peppers
-Rage Against the Machine

I only need three.

1. Fairport Convention.
2. The Beatles.
3. Wheeler Street.

(WHY aren't The Beatles on your list?!)

I love U2. Why didn't you like their last one, Larry?

There's a simple answer to that question

It's the same way I feel about Bob Dylan and Chuck Berry. Were they rock icons? Sure. But this isn't the "most revolutionary bands ever" list. Their music simply doesn't stand up to more contemporary artists.

Plus I hate the fact that so many people think the Beatles are a bunch of gods, and everyone else is second fiddle because...they're the Beatles.

When you've already created such high standards with War, The Joshua Tree, The Unforgettable Fire, Rattle and Hum, Achtung Baby, etc...it's easy to see how a mediocre album that even Bono admitted was a flop just won't garner much interest.

"Horizon" just doesn't have enough depth - even on their past two albums, which weren't exactly masterpieces, both "Atomic Bomb" and "ATYCLB" had 6-8 solid tracks I could listen to over and over again.

On "Horizon," there's like 2 or 3 decent songs that I'm already tired of listening to, and a bunch of meh. It's the only U2 album (aside from some of their rare EPs) that I haven't bought, and that's not because I'm a digital download whore.

Meh, I liked it. And Rolling Stone gave it a great rating so I guess I'm not the only one. Maybe it wasn't the best, but I liked it.

Though apart from Magnificent, my favorite track is probably the one they left off the album. It is called "Winter" and they just released another version of it for a movie. But I like the version that appeared in the companion movie to the album, "Linear." I actually took the audio from the movie so I could listen to it on my iPod.

I have yet to hear that, I will give it a look.

Rolling Stone reviews are a complete joke. I mean, giving Horizon 5 stars (which would make it a timeless classic, which it is not) and ATYCLB the same rating as a Ricky Martin CD is one thing. Coming up with a "best albums of the last decade" list and flip flopping ATYCLB (#13) and Horizon (suddenly #36) is another. Oh, and Mick Jagger's Goddess in the Doorway, which they inexplicably gave 5 stars to as well, didn't crack the top 100 at all. How does one of your 5 star albums not make the top 100?

Seriously, RS reviews change practically every week. If you've ever heard of the Rolling Stone Album Guides, you'd know what I mean

I assume it is different people reviewing and compiling those lists.

Good Lord. There's not even...my brain is hurting just thinking about it. There are still so many great bands I've yet to hear. My music taste ranges from Elvis to Dropkick Murphys to Save Ferris to the Stones...it would be impossible to say who I liked best.

But for sure, my top 20 list would include AC/DC, Sublime, the Beatles (eff off, I think most of their music is brilliant even if I just don't get their older stuff), Incubus, the Clash, Led Zeplin, Rancid, the Sounds, U2, Jimi Hendrix, Weezer (before the shitty albums) and tentatively, No Doubt when it wasn't shitty and overpuffed with the stuff Gwen's doing now.

The Rhino Humpers have always been severely underrated in my mind.

With classics like that, how can you not be serious?

I have yet to hear that, I will give it a look.
From the "Linear" movie: http://youtu.be/Z74EzaRuqfs

Something I put together: http://youtu.be/9gmZTjQy3Uk?hd=1

There's also a second version for the recent movie "Brothers." Personally, I don't like that one as much.

I've somewhat come around on No Line On the Horizon - at least half of it is listenable now, esp. Unknown Caller, Magnificent, and Moment of Surrender. Still, u2's on the backburner behind the New Pornographers right now
